Below is a description of what to expect when you take your holiday with Infinity Safaris. The description given is of a typical schedule and could be subjected to some change depending on external influences such as your actual arrival time in Egypt, transfers, etc.
Day 1
After you have arrived in Egypt, completed the purchase of your Visa and collected your baggage you will be met by an Infinity Safaris representative for the transfer to your boat. This transfer may be 15-20 minutes if transferring to the boat in Hurghada, an hour or so if transferring to Safaga, three hours if you are going to Port Ghalib or up to four hours if your transfer is going to Marsa Alam.
Upon arrival at the boat you will be greeted by the guides who will be with you for the week. They will introduce themselves, offer a welcome drink and deliver the boat orientation and safety briefing before organising the allocation of cabins.
If you have arrived during the afternoon a small snack lunch will be provided. If you have arrived a little later towards the evening, dinner will be provided shortly after the briefing.
All of the necessary liability and medical paperwork will be completed through the afternoon or after dinner, along with the collection of passports and any other necessary documentation so that the rest of the time is yours to relax, set up your equipment, take a walk/ride in to town or maybe even just sleep!!
Day 2
The boat will sail as soon as the necessary clearance is granted by the local Coastguard and will head out to your check dive site.
Today, breakfast will be served before your first dive and lunch will follow the dive. The second dive of the day will be mid afternoon and is followed by a small snack. Depending on the route you are taking, there may be a need to start travelling soon after this dive so a night dive may not always be possible today. Your guides will brief you on this as required.
Day 3,4 and 5
Wake early for a briefing and dive followed by breakfast, second dive is done mid morning and followed by lunch, mid afternoon brings the third dive of the day which is followed by a snack, and then the night dive completes the day being followed by dinner. This is the normal pattern for the main part of the safari and where the philosophy of ‘Dive-Eat-Sleep’ starts to kick in very quickly!!
Day 6
Your final diving day will include two dives in the morning with a chance to wash and dry your kit after this. The boat will then head back to the marina arriving early to mid-afternoon. Again, depending on the schedule for your departure there may be time for you to relax, shop in the local town, etc.
This time may also be spent closing out the safari paperwork and paying any bills for beer, onboard retail purchases, etc if you have an early departure the day after.
Last night is usually spent on the boat with dinner provided unless you decide you want to do something different.
Day 7
Breakfast is provided before the transfer to the airport for your departure flight or onward journey. If you are flying, we aim to get you to the airport at least two hours before your scheduled departure time from where ever your transfer is. On busier days, we may extend this time for your comfort.
Typical Menu Summary
The list below is a brief summary of the menu items available onboard an Infinity Safaris boat. The menu items are changed periodically according to seasonal availability of some foods. All of the items below are included in the cost of your safari so no extra charges will be made.
- Breakfast onboard typically consists a good mix of cereal, toast, Danish pastries, croissants, cold meats and cheese, yoghurts, fruit salads, pancakes and local Egyptian foods such as foul beans and falafel, and eggs served hard boiled, scrambled, fried or as an omelette.
- Lunch is usually a dish of meat, chicken or fish with rice or pasta, vegetables and salads with small Oriental style desert.
- Dinner offers a soup, a main dish of meat, chicken or fish, rice pasta or potatoes, vegetables salads and a desert to finish. We also have ‘theme’ nights such as a fish night where you may expect to receive fish soup, calamari, Langustine (small lobster), shell fish, etc and special dinners at the beginning and the end of trip.
- Afternoon snacks can be as varied as cake, deep fried battered apple, cheesy toast or pizza slices all served with a refreshing fresh fruit drink.
Fresh fruit and snack biscuits are available in the salon 24 hours a day and these are regularly refreshed and topped up.
Vegetarians are catered for easily along with those that require special diets for allergies, gluten free needs, etc. Please be sure to state any specific dietary requirements at the time of your booking.
